If your facility is like most hospitals, it is a maze of corridors and hallways that can easily confuse already stressed patients and visitors. Thus, simple, easy to understand floor plans are key to the success of Visitor Guide facility maps and brochures. Accompanied by an alphabetized listing of hospital departments and services, the floor plans help visitors and patients easily find their way.
Our philosophy with the floor plans is to keep them simple and easy to read. We generally only include public hallways and public destinations, steering away from areas of the hospital that are off limits to the public. We utilize symbols as much as possible for information desks, restrooms, ATMs, waiting areas, vending areas, elevators, stairs, etc. Working with architectural schematics, a Med Maps wayfinding consultant conducts an on-site survey to document primary department and service locations and verify current wayfinding conditions. This results in a user-friendly floor plan diagram to be displayed in the Visitor Guide brochure or provided as a printable PDF image on your hospital’s website.
