VCU Health employee map

One purpose of Med Maps is to assist visitors to hospitals and VA medical centers in easily and efficiently finding the specific locations they’re looking for. In doing so, we’re also improving relationships by making it easier to navigate a space and share information about that space. People much prefer visiting places that are easily accessible and can be navigated without difficulty.

On occasion, improving relationships and enhancing navigation skills has as much to do with those providing medical services as with those seeking those services. Effective hospital wayfinding is accomplished, in part, through professionally designed campus and facility maps, aerial campus renderings and interactive mapping tools.

Such was the case when Med Maps was called upon in 2017 to create campus and facility maps for a brand new hospital in South Hill, VA. The VCU Health facility would prove to have a navigation learning curve for employees as well as patients and visitors.

Simply providing staff with accurate and easy to comprehend directional tools was of first importance. Along with several wall mounted You Are Here maps and printed campus maps, Med Maps introduced our first A to B, or point to point, interactive mapping tool. All these various navigation solutions were ready prior to the grand opening on Saturday, the 14th of October to help bring employees up to speed in learning about their new facility.
